2025 was Scotland’s warmest year ever, beating 2022 in records which go back to 1884. At an average of 8.6ºC it was 0.9ºC warmer than the 1991-2020 average (1.7ºC warmer than the 1991-2000 average). All of the last four years are in the top 5 warmest years ever.

Spring 2025 was the warmest Scottish spring ever, beating 2024, and summer 2025 was the second warmest summer ever. April was the third warmest April ever and May was the sunniest ever month with 270hrs of sunshine, beating the record of 240.9hrs set in July 1955, with April the 2nd sunniest April ever. 2025 was the second sunniest year ever reocrded (sunshine records start in 1910).
10 months in 2025 were warmer than the long-term average.
9 of the 10 warmest years have been since 2000, the other one is 1997.
