For Scotland, August 2025 was the 5th warmest August ever recorded, at an average temperature of 14.6ºC it was 1.4ºC warmer than the 1991-2020 average. Scotland’s temperature records go back to 1884.
Summer 2025 was the equal warmest summer ever, tying with 2003. This follows Scotland warmest and sunniest ever spring.
7 of 8 months of 2025 have been warmer than average, 6 of them more than 1ºC warmer. If this trend continues 2025 will be the warmest year ever recorded in Scotland, beating 2022 and exceeding the long-term average by more than 1ºC. 9 out of 10 of the warmest years in the 142 year record have been this century, the exception being 1997.
May 2025 was the sunniest month ever, in records going back to 1910.
