It was more than 1ºC warmer than the 1991-2020 average. 4 months of 2025 were more than 1ºC warmer than this average. If the second half of the year shows the same pattern of above average temperatures 2025 will be the warmest year ever recorded in Scotland, beating 2022.

This year has also seen the second sunniest April, the sunniest May (also the sunniest month of any sort) and the third warmest May. Spring 2025 was also the sunniest and warmest spring ever recorded (meteorological spring is March, April and May).
